Following the commitments expressed in the Policy approved by the Shareholders (Feb 27, 2013), in particular the statement "promote, both internally and in partnership with other entities, the research, development and innovation in the field of services provided, business organization, processes and communication ", as well as in the statement referred in Centro de Investigação em Energia REN - State Grid (R&D Nester) Shareholders Agreement (Feb 27, 2013), in which it is explicit that "The company's purpose is to implement a Research and Development Centre in Portugal dedicated to research, development, innovation and demonstration in the power transmission and system management areas, the provision of consulting services and education and training services within the scope of these activities, as well as the development of all other related activities and the provision of services which are complementary, related with or accessory to the abovementioned purpose.", the Management of the Centro de Investigação em Energia REN - State Grid (R&D Nester), confirms its commitment to the purpose of:
Consolidating a culture of innovation and creativity, fostering an environment where new ideas are encouraged and valued;
Ensuring that the needs and expectations of stakeholders are met through the development of R&D and innovation projects in the field of energy systems, providing innovative and value-driven solutions tailored to their requirements;
Developing innovative, efficient, sustainable and high-value solutions for the energy sector, ensuring that R&D Nester's innovation strategy consistently addresses emerging technological challenges and contributes to the evolution and resilience of energy systems;
Establishing and managing a portfolio of research, development and innovation projects aligned with the organisation's innovation strategy and adapted to the evolving needs of the energy sector;
Encouraging the continuous improvement of the Research, Development and Innovation Management System, ensuring performance optimisation and consistent alignment with the company's innovation strategy;
Actively participating in national and international framework programmes, often in consortia with universities, industrial R&D centres and innovative SMEs, enabling work on cutting-edge topics while reducing financial risk associated with emerging technologies and supporting the testing of new products, services and markets in multi-scale pilot environments;
Building long-term relationships with stakeholders in the energy sector, promoting collaborative partnerships with international R&D institutions, industrial partners and energy associations, thereby contributing to a global technology and knowledge network;
Promoting openness to the external ecosystem, establishing appropriate interactions with scientific and technological knowledge, the market and society, and ensuring effective planning and execution of RDI projects;
Ensuring full compliance with the requirements of the innovation standard ISO 56001, as well as all legal and regulatory obligations applicable to R&D Nester's activities.
This Statement is reviewed by the Management of the Centro de Investigação em Energia REN - State Grid (R&D Nester) on an annual basis, and whenever shareholders' policy changes.
